I put off writing this note because I couldn’t find the words to express my gratitude and, as a writer, I’m supposed to be good with words. But having you stand behind me, and achieve this wonderful ruling for me, has changed something inside me. I no longer feel so helpless, or so abandoned. That abandonment was the loneliest, most terrifying thing I’ve ever felt.
You have given me my dignity, Joan, and there is no way I can ever thank you for a gift like that. It was a rare and precious thing to have you champion me, and you have truly changed my life. God bless you.
